Ride the Great Smoky Mountains

We just got home at noon today from five days of riding in Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia. Sturgis was beautiful but had nothing more to offer than the rides in Tennessee, which are closer by far. Got a map of eight more rides I wish we had time to do. Maybe when I retire! Gorgeous country.

Had a great time with Bill and Peggy. We went in Bill's motorhome and trailered the bikes. Thanks to John Freeman who let us borrow his double trailer at the last minute when the bikes wouldn't fit on Dean's 5 ft. wide trailer. Dean and Bill returned it with two new tires and a new paint job to thank him. All went well and the weather was perfect. Can't wait to go again.

Great picture of Bill and Peg in the Ruby Falls cavern. See Peg, I told you I could save you $18..... Posted by Picasa

The "guys who never really lost their bearings"...well, maybe that last night, Bill. Posted by Picasa

OK, Bailey and Diane, this one's for you. He found ice cream EVERYWHERE we went...can you believe? Yes, I know you can. Posted by Picasa

There is a child in all of us. Dean could not leave the park until he put his feet in the water. And how cold was it for "the Dean"? Posted by Picasa

Linda will never conquer "helmet hair"....maybe a wig! Posted by Picasa

Such brave men, such a small rock ledge! Posted by Picasa

We did survive the Dragon's Tail as well (probably due to my "help" with the driving) Posted by Picasa

318 curves in 11 miles ... known as the Dragon's Tail. We survived to get the t-shirt at Deals Gap Posted by Picasa

Some of the other riders, resting and taking a break. Bailey, those Rice Rockets ride the curves at 100 mph, even faster than your speed, and usually come around the curves in the wrong lane!Posted by Picasa

The Tree of Shame and Pain. Notice all parts are from bikes other than Harleys! Posted by Picasa

Dean checks out Tree of Shame. Posted by Picasa

After taking a break at Deals Gap, we rode the relatively new Cherhola Skyway...absolutely breathtaking! Posted by Picasa

Biker Buddies! Posted by Picasa

There were deep, emerald green mountain lakes EVERYWHERE! Posted by Picasa

Grandma meets her newest great-grandchild, Hannah Elyse

Hannah stopped to eat on the way to Jena and got to meet Grandma Dick for the first time. Posted by Picasa

OK, so I messed up and had black and white film in the camera, but it really makes them look like bikers, huh? Posted by Picasa

So this is what 55 year-old grandparents are supposed to look like! We surely have had a wonderful time this summer! Posted by Picasa
