This weekend .... finally got here!

What a week! This was Homecoming Week at DHS and we had something EVERY night. I had three meetings away from school as well. I am glad it is over with...maybe this week will be a little calmer. Still have two ballgames this week.

This is our updated front view.

Jessie is painting the den and halls for us. The color is LATTE and I thought this color came out pretty clear for once.

Dean caulked the back porch and I painted.

Stained the bedroom floor this weekend. Next is set the toilet and the vanities.

This view still excites me. We have planned for five years and now it is about to be a reality!

Kerri, they put the marble around the tub. We are just waiting for the plumber and HOT water!!!!

Lake update

Spent the weekend at the lake. Thanks again, Marcus and Jennifer! D-Daddy couldn't do it without you...I stayed a while but then had a basketball tournament to work.

Went back today and Dean painted the bedroom and bath ceiling. Our next project is staining the floor on the main level. That's gonna be a long and tedious job, but has to be done so we can set toilets, bath vanities and such.

Took some pictures. Harry is finished until we do our thing with the floors and the walls.

This is the bar area. The ceiling is the stained tongue and groove boards.

Got to add the railing when the spindles come in. It will go all the way across the landing.

The ceiling looks really good. We'll have to pay someone a couple of times a year to dust it, but in the meantime.....

Stairs to the lakeside driveway. Tried to make them stroller and wheelchair accessible for our old age.

Added these stairs on the front so folks would come on up to the main landing.

Living for the weekend

Do we work to live? or Live to work? I don't know, but we seem to always be wishing our lives away, waiting for Friday. Working just isn't as much fun as it used to be. I would much rather be playing with grandkids, cleaning out closets or painting at the lake. Too much stress in this "chasing a vocation"....

Weather's supposed to be good. We may try to actually put some "Latte" and "Solitude" on the walls. If I can get Marcus up to the lake and Dean's not looking, I may get that tree cut down that is in the way of my hammock! No kidding, it really has been nice up there on that hill....such a good breeze most of the time.

Angie, they are putting your air conditioner in the downstairs CAVE tomorrow, I think, and our attic fan got here today... getting close....

Weekend Events

OK - The weekend was almost all great. We went to Jackson Friday night after the ball game and visited with Daddy and Edith on Saturday.

Met Frank, Marcus, Dean, Amanda, Eli, Anne and Evan at Jason's Deli for lunch.

It was cute to see Hannah and Eli together. At first her reaction was "You better back off!"

but then we warmed up to the "kissin' cousins" idea!

Hannah is such a happy kid

even though it doesn't look that way when she eats lemons

and keeps coming back for more!

We came on back to Ruston and voted in the local elections, but then the fun began.

I left my car keys at school in a jacket pocket (I had Dean's truck and his keys --- another story) and had to go back to get them. Well, it's been a year since I worked the alarm and I ended up setting it off, dealing with Dubach's version of Barney Fife and then having to go back later because it wasn't set. When I returned, my key got caught in the lock (no, folks, I mean it REALLY GOT CAUGHT AND WOULDN'T COME OUT) and Dean had to come on the motorcycle to help. He couldn't get the key out either. Called my principal to notify her (like four times - last at 10:30 pm) Ended up setting the alarm (I think) and leaving the key in the outside lock. I hope everything's still there when I get to work on Monday.

Went to the lake today and actually accomplished quite a bit. We got there at 8:00 am to meet the dozer guy but, of course, he never showed...makes me so angry when they do that...we rushed home and everything to meet him.

High windows are trimmed...inside and out...so Dad doesn't have to get back on that scaffold.

Painted a wall to check the color. EVERYBODY LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. We are about ready to paint...inside and out. Pick your color and location and we will put a brush in your hand! Delaney and Maddy, want to have some real fun?

Dad cleaned the backyard, burned some piles and dug some ditches. Everyone says they are coming to finsh up their part this week....we shall see!

Dare we hope that the end may be in sight?
